My Hero

Why? She has an opinion to almost anything. She uses bad language, but she is changing for her and others. Angie, I believe she changes because she knows that it is probably a good thing. She still has an opinion and some people respect her for that opinion. And she gets further without bad language. So Angie, you always show how being different can be good or bad. Otherwise you are my hero.

Name Poem

I come to the center to learn math and other computer skills so that I can take them home and practice. My math skills are coming along, reading is ok. Spelling is tougher. I am in Monday Night Computer class. I am learning how to use a computer and laptop.

I Remember Our Trailer in Browerville

I remember the sight of the small trailer house.
I remember the sound of our cats and horses.
I remember the taste of pork roast.
I remember the feel of my sisters kicking at night because they are short on blankets.

The Three Things I Like About Fall

I like the cool air at night. I like the brisk morning air and warm days.

A Book About Me

If I were to write a book about me, I'd call it "Goofie."

I would start by telling the readers about my younger days. I would tell them I was very tiny and long, and that I did a lot of hiding in the closet. I would write about the time that I hid in the closet and no one found me. That would make them look hard.

Next, I would write about the way I am today. I would say that I enjoy latch-hooking and embroidery, and that I would rather not sleep my day away. I would explain that my favorite things in the world are latch-hooking, my friends and ceramics.

Then I would write about my future plans. Someday I would like to go to college.

I would tell my readers that if I had one wish it would be to see all my nieces grow up.

I hope that when my readers finish my book, they would think of me as a very happy person.

Reading

This book I am reading is a little bit of a struggle. I am starting to see what the title means in my life. Everyone struggles a little, all the time. I guess what I am saying is that when you struggle, that is when you begin to learn. That is the way it happened to me, and I know it is different for everyone.

Students, good luck this year. I hope to spread my knowledge to people who need to start at the beginning. When I came a student at ABE Learning Center, if you had showed me a letter, I would say "A." You are thinking, why? Because I had memorized the alphabet song and A was the first letter in the song. My tutor was showing me a letter I thought was A. In reality, it was another letter.

I give applause to you. Good luck to all of you that are beginning, and those who are giving this their all, both old and new students.
