Tutor Tip 17: The Dice Game

Purpose:To have students practice writing numbers 1-100 or the alphabet in order. Fun warm-up.

Preparation Time: none

Materials: 2 dice, a pen, paper for each learner

Preparation:none

Procedure:
  1. Give each learner a piece of paper.
  2. Have one student begin rolling the dice.  As soon as he or she gets doubles, they should pick up the pen and start writing numbers 1-100 or the alphabet.
  3. As soon as the first person starts writing, the next person should start rolling the dice. When he/she gets doubles, he should take the pen from the first person and start writing. At this point, the next person takes the dice and begins rolling.
  4. Continue until someone gets to 100 or Z before someone else rolls doubles.
