Tip 18: The Teacher Made a Mistake

Materials: short reading passage
Preparation:
Find a short reading passage that your student would be able to read
independently. For higher-level students, it can be a paragraph.
For lower-level students, it can be simple sentences or independent
words. Have a copy for each student.
- Give the students the passage.
- Ask the students to follow along as you
read and to raise hands when you make mistakes.
- Read the passage and make some errors by
skipping or mispronouncing words, jumbling up sentences, etc.
- Ask students to tell you what the
mistake was.
