Tutor Tip 18: The Teacher Made a Mistake

Purpose: reading, listening and speaking. 

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Materials: short reading passage

Preparation: Find a short reading passage that your student would be able to read independently. For higher-level students, it can be a paragraph.  For lower-level students, it can be simple sentences or independent words. Have a copy for each student.

Procedure:
  1. Give the students the passage.
  2. Ask the students to follow along as you read and to raise hands when you make mistakes.
  3. Read the passage and make some errors by skipping or mispronouncing words, jumbling up sentences, etc.
  4. Ask students to tell you what the mistake was.
