Tutor Tip #2: Adverb Actions

Purpose: To review adverbs

Preparation Time: none

Materials: none

Preparation: none

Procedure:

  1. Have students generate a list of adverbs.Forms ending in -ly are easiest (e.g., quickly, slowly, happily, sadly, poorly).
  2. Have them do a simple action, such as stand up.Have them sit down again. Then have them stand up "happily," etc.
  3. Repeat the activity with a different action (clap, jump, walk, etc.)

Variation: Have a student complete the task and have the rest of the class guess what adverb he/she is modeling.
